Open Day at MGIMO College
March 23, there was an Open Doors Day at #MGIMO College.
More than 100 high school students and their parents from Moscow and the
Moscow region attended the event to learn firsthand about the rules of admission
and the four programs of technical and vocational education and training that the
College offers, in particular, Banking, logistics, social security law and social
welfare services, as well as applied informatics.
Before the event, college student volunteers conducted a tour of the University
campus for prospective students.
As students were taking tests to find out which programme suits them the most,
their parents listened to an interactive lecture "Harmony and community",
covering the problems of relationships with adolescents.
A lot of interactive and consulting platforms welcomed the participants in the hall
of the second floor.
Sergei K. Vasiliev, Director of MGIMO’s Odintsovo campus, gave an opening
address:"...We are constantly improving the College, enhancing the quality of
education, streamlining the educational content in such a way that it is in full
conformity with the leading BA and MA programmes offered by MGIMO. Thus,
we have ensured our College is part of the vertically integrated education system of
MGIMO."
Marina V. Vorobyova, Director of MGIMO College, spoke about the advantages
of studying at MGIMO College: "First of all, my message is to the parents, because
it is very important for parents where their child will study and on what conditions.
College graduates can enrol at the majority of Russian universities, including
MGIMO, without taking the Unified State Exam through entrance exams
administered by educational institutions of higher education. These exams are
much easier to pass after College."
Marina V. Vorobyova paid special attention to the approach to teaching foreign
languages, including an updated program, which makes it possible college students
to prepare for a University-level foreign language programme.
The participants of the event were addressed by Deputy College Director T. V.
Pribylova, Head of the Preparatory Department T. Yu.Dzhamalova, teacher-
organizer Ye.V. Orlova and the Chairman of the Student Council of the College D.
M. Marzaganova.
A lively and open discussion followed between the prospective students, their
parents and MGIMO college representatives. Nikolai Kryukin, the father of a 9th
grader said: "We chose MGIMO College because of the high professionalism of
the staff working there. In addition, there is a programme on applied informatics”.
The advent of the digital economy is just around the corner, so is, digitalization of
our entire lives, so we decided that our child, after going to college, will be
competitive and successful in the labour market.
Elizaveta Tarasova, grade 9: "I want to enrol at MGIMO College, because in
addition to quality education and applied knowledge, I will have the opportunity to
enrol at the leading universities of the country on simplified terms. I do not know
yet what programme I will enrol at: after I have taken tests, I will make a better-
informed choice.
College students actively engaged with their peers from schools and gymnasiums
gave detailed answers to all their questions and spoke about the advantages of
studying the programmes offered by MGIMO College.
